PM Scholarship Scheme for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles: Govt started this scheme to support higher technical and professional education for dependent wards and widows of Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles (CAPFs and A.R.) Personnel. The National Defense Fund launched the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) in the academic year 2006–07.

This program has been expanded beginning with the academic year 2020–21 to include dependent children of State Police employees who are killed in terrorist or Naxal acts.

Number of Scholarship

In addition to renewal cases from previous years, the wards of CAPFs and A.R. for each academic year get a total of 2000 Scholarships (equally for both girls and boys) under the PMSS Scheme.

The Department will pick any gender if they receive fewer than 1000 applicants (boys or girls).

Likewise, the Department will deliver 500 scholarships to the children of State Police who are murdered in terrorist or Naxal attacks, 250 of which would go to males and 250 to girls.

Eligibility

For PM Scholarship Scheme for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles: – 

  1. I) The dependents or widows of CAPF and A.R. members who passed away while performing election or harness duty, the dependents of members who became disabled while serving in the government, and the dependents of ex-CAPF and A.R. members who received gallantry awards.
  2. II) Personnel below the officer rank, including the wards and widows of retired and active CAPF and A.R. members.

III) Following the rules outlined in Paragraph 8(B) when pursuing the first professional degree program in the fields of any engineering branch, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, management degrees (B.B.A. or M.B.A.), computer application degree (B.C.A., M.C.A.) B. Pharma, B.SC (nursing, agriculture, etc.), etc.

  1. IV) Obtaining at least 60% of the required marks in the Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ), which in the case of a fresh applicant is 10+2/Diploma/Graduation or an equivalent,

Or

The applicants seeking under the renewal category must score at least 50% marks in Every succeeding academic year of the professional classes.

  1. V) when an applicant delay applying for a scholarship renewal, a one-year grace period may be considered.

B. For State Police Forces

This category is open to dependent children of State Police employees who are killed in terrorist or Naxal attacks, provided that:

  1. I) Following the guidelines outlined in Paragraph 8(B) when pursuing the first professional degree program like engineering, medical, dentistry, veterinary sciences, B.B.A. and M.B.A., B.C.A. and M.C.A., B. Pharma, B.SC (nursing, agriculture, etc.), M.B.A., M.C.A., etc.
  2. II) If a fresh applicant, having at least 60% in 12th/ 10+2/Diploma/Graduation or an equivalent, or It is a requirement for candidates seeking under the renewal category to complete every succeeding academic year of the professional degree they are scoring a minimum of 50% marks.

III) A one-year grace period exclusively for situations with a delay on the side of A potential applicant for submitting a scholarship renewal application.

Order of Preference 

The Department will shortlist applications from qualified candidates in the new category in the following order of preference and according to the proportion of MEQ marks they received:

For CAPFs/AR personnel

I) Category-A Wards/Widows of CAPFs & A.R. personnel killed in action
II) Category-B Wards of Ex-CAPFs & A.R. personnel disabled in action.
III) Category-C Wards/Widows of deceased CAPFs & A.R. personnel lost their lives for causes attributable to Government service, including casualties during the Election.
IV) Category-D Wards of Ex-CAPFs & A.R. personnel disabled while during service with disability attributable to Government Service
V) Category-E Wards of Ex-CAPFs & A.R. personnel in receipt of Gallantry Awards.
VI) Category-F Wards of Ex- CAPFs & AR personnel (PBOR).
VII) Category-G Wards of serving CAPFs & A.R. personnel (PBOR) are subject to scholarship availability.

Duration of Scholarship

Students will get Up to five years (based on the length of the applicant’s course and as permitted by the appropriate regulating authority).

Amount of PM Scholarship Scheme for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles

  • Rs. 3000 per month for girls. To be paid annually after selection.
  • Rs. 2500/- per month for boys.
  • Rs 36,000/-to each girl & Rs 30,000/- to each boy

 Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ):

To qualify for the PMSS scholarship, a candidate must have earned at least 60% in MEQ, or 10+2, Diploma, or graduate.

Maybe. Different professional courses have additional MEQ requirements. For instance, MEQ

For BE/B. Tech, it is 10+2 / Diploma, whereas, for MBBS, it is 10+2 / MBBS. B. Ed. and M.B.A. graduates will graduate today.

Note: –

Wards admitted in 2nd year of technical/professional Bachelor’s Degree courses (BE/B. Tech, etc.) through lateral entry after completion of Diploma courses are eligible for PMSS.

  • If the applicant passes the XII exam from CBSE, the Department will consider marks obtained in the best of five subjects out of 500 for calculating the percentage of marks in MEQ.

Courses applicable under PM Scholarship Scheme for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles (PMSS):

  • Only First Professional Degree Programs, such as B.E., B Tech, B.D.S., MBBS, and B.Ed., as well as B.B.A., B.C.A., B Pharma, and B.Sc. (Nursing, Agriculture, etc.), have been adequately recognized by the relevant Government Regulatory Bodies, including the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Medical Council of India (MCI), and the University Grant Commission (U.G.C.).

Documents Required

The applicant must submit or upload the following papers in the appropriate category to apply online through PMSS: –

  • The H.O.O. will issue a Service Certificate in case of serving personnel as per Annexure- A.
  •  II) Applicants are required to upload duly attested scanned copy of the Mark sheet MEQ, i.e., XII/Diploma/Graduation or equivalent is mandatory, along with the following certificate which is applicable:
  1. a)P.O./Discharge Certificate/Book (Mandatory for categories A to F)
  2. b)Disability Certificate (Mandatory for category B & D)
  3. c)Death Certificate (Mandatory for categories A & C)
  4. d)Certificate of Gallantry award (Mandatory for category E)

How to Apply for PM Scholarship Scheme for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles

  • The Department will implement The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) for CAPFs, AR, and State Police officers through the National Scholarship Portal (N.S.P.) 2.0 edition beginning with the academic year 2020–21.
  • For this, on or before April 15, 2021, all qualified applicants must submit an online application through the National Scholarship Portal (N.S.P.) at http://www.scholarships.gov.in.
  • The website has detailed instructions and documentation (specified pro forma) that must be scanned and uploaded for the fresh and renewal categories.

Online Process Flow for Scholarship 

  • Starting March 25, 2021, applicants must apply online through N.S.P. and attach the necessary papers. The applicant will get A system-generated registration number upon successfully submitting the application or documents; the Department can use this number for future referencing.
  • Please verify all the information on the application form, check the school’s records, and recommend it to the CAPF, AR, and state police employees.
  • Verify all required paperwork and credentials. A service certificate, a category the applicant claims in the order of preference, and other qualifying requirements that the applicant has loaded.

i). Combine the information obtained from CAPFs, AR, State Police employees, and the list of candidates chosen for renewal.

ii). Both M.H.A. and PFMS will receive an online list of the chosen applicants.

iii) Calculate the entire amount of the scholarship that needs to be approved under PMSS and processed for credit or transfer into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts via PFMS.

  • M.H.A.: Procedure for requesting money from the PMO for scholarships.
  • PFMS: Verify the selected applicants’ bank accounts with the appropriate bank before crediting or transferring the scholarship directly into the recipients’ bank accounts.
  • N.S.P.: Producing the Merit Lists for New Cases, the Final List for Renewal Cases, and the Lot Generation Phase by PMSS rules.

CAPFs, AR, State/U.T. Police employees, WARB, and M.H.A. will each receive a login I.D. and password for this listed college, institute, or university to use the online system. to carefully review the received application and ensure that the candidates have uploaded the necessary papers for the scholarship to be approved, paid for, and tracked by all parties under PMSS.
