IIT: JAM – Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must check the eligibility criteria for different courses mentioned below:
- M.Sc. in Chemistry: Candidates must have three year bachelor’s degree with Chemistry subject.
- M.Sc. in Economics (IIT, Delhi): Applicants must be graduated in BA, B.Sc., B.Com, B.Math, B.Stat., B.Tech., BE, or equivalent from any recognized university.
- M.Sc. Statistics (IIT, Tirupati): The candidates must have bachelor’s degree in any discipline with Mathematics or Statistics subjects for at least 2 years.
- Joint M.Sc. Ph.D. in Atmosphere and Ocean Sciences: The applicants must be graduated in any discipline with Mathematics and Physics with any one of the subjects i.e., Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, Computer Applications & Statistics.

- For Female/SC/ST/PwD (One Paper): Rs. 900/-
- For Female/SC/ST/PwD (Two Papers): Rs. 1250/-
- For All Others (One paper): Rs. 1800/-
- For All Other (Two Papers): Rs. 2500/-
- Fee Amount – Fees for changing Category/ Gender/ Test paper/ Examination city is Rs. 300/- apart from the applicable difference in Application fee.

IIT: JAM – Exam Pattern
- Mode of exam: The exam will be conducted through online mode.
- Duration: 3 hours will be allotted to candidates to solve the paper.
- Medium: The exam will be in English language only.
- Total Questions: There will be total 60 questions in the exam.
- Subjects: There will be 7 subjects referred to test paper.
- Type of Questions: Paper will contain Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT).
- Marking Scheme: In MCQs paper will carry 1 mark questions, MSQs section will carry 2 marks per question and NAT section will have one or two marks per question.
- Negative Marking: For wrong answer to 1 mark question 1/3 mark will be deducted, and for wrong answer to 2-mark question 2/3 mark will be deducted. In MSQs & NAT section, no marks will be deducted.

IIT: JAM – Counselling
- IIT JAM 2024 counseling will start on April 10 through an online platform. Candidates will be chosen based on their exam score and rank. The number of rounds the JAM counseling process takes will depend on how many seats are still available after each round.
IIT: JAM – How to Apply
- Step-1: Go to the website (link is given above).
- Step-2: Candidates first have to register on website, by entering details such as name, email id, contact number, password, etc.
- Step-3: After successful registration, applicants will be provided enrollment id and OTP will be sent.
- Step-4: Fill the application form by providing details such as personal, academic, address, etc.
- Step-5: Upload the scanned photograph, signature, and other documents.
- Step-6: Pay the application fee through online mode.
- Step-7: Take the printout of the application form for future reference.
