Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University Students: The Department of Higher Education of MHRD created this centrally financed merit-plus-means scholarship. It provides financial aid to students from families with little resources. 82,000 graduate and postgraduate students get yearly scholarships under the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme.

Meritorious students from low-income families can get financial aid through this scholarship program. The Ministry of Education’s Department of Higher Education runs this scheme to help cover some of their living expenses while pursuing higher education.

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students

Scholars are given out based on the Higher Secondary/ CClass 12th Board Examination results for pursuing graduate or postgraduate degrees in colleges and universities and professional courses like medical, engineering, etc. A maximum of 82,000 new scholarships are given each year.

Regular students enrolled in degree programs at colleges or institutions accredited by the AICTE and the relevant regulatory authorities who scored higher than the 80th percentile in the relevant stream in their Class 12 examination under the 10+2 pattern or an equivalent can apply. Students must regularly attend degree programs at colleges or institutions approved by the AICTE to Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University Students.

Rewards and Benefits

  • College and University students pursuing the Graduation level will get ₹12,000/-per annum for the first three years.
  • College and University students pursuing the Post Graduation level will get ₹ 20,000 per annum.
  • Students pursuing professional courses, in cases where the duration of the course is five (5) years/Integrated course, will get 20,000/-per annum in the fourth and fifth year.
  • Students pursuing technical studies such as B.Tech, B.Engg. Will get scholarship up to graduation level only, i.e., 12,000 p.a. for first, second, and third years.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must score above 80 percent of those who passed their respective board of examination’s Class 12 examination using the 10+2 pattern or an equivalent standard.
  • The candidate must be a student of traditional degree programs, not distance learning, correspondence, or certificate programs.
  • The candidate must be a student of a program at a college or other AICTE-approved organization and the relevant regulatory organizations.
  • The candidate cannot receive funding from any other scholarship programs, including those administered by the government or that waive fees or compensate recipients.

  • Aadhaar Card No.
  • Where necessary, a caste certificate, a parent’s income certificate
  • An email ID.
  • Wherever a disability certificate is needed.
